The 17 annual ESPY awards took place at Nokia Theatre LA Live on July 15, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. The event was hosted by actor Samuel L. Jackson, will be broadcast on ESPN at 9 p.m. EST on Sunday. Tennis ace Serena Williams lost out to Nastia Liukin for the best Female athlete of the year. Kobe and Mrs. Kobe attended the event along with Will i am from the black eye peas and Terrell Owens.
