With all this talk about Mariah Carey possibly being pregnant, the songstress herself has come forward to address the high-fueled rumor.
“I appreciate everyone’s well wishes. But I am very superstitious,” the singer told ShowBiz411.com. “When the time is right, everyone will know – even Cindi Berger [my publicist].”
Pregnancy rumors began to swirl after photos of a fuller-sized Carey performing in Brazil over the weekend hit the Web. Even more telling, the Daily Mail points out that Carey stepped out to lunch last week wearing a brown maternity dress from A Pea in the Pod, a clothing store for expecting mothers.
Though her husband, Nick Cannon, attempted to help squash the tabloid fodder, his choice of words only added more fuel to the baby fire.
“We all know it’s extremely personal, and it is for a woman to deal with things with her body, and especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff,” Cannon said on his radio show Monday on New York’s NOW radio (92.3 FM). “That’s something you want to keep near and dear and as close to you as you possibly can, until you’re 100% sure, in any situation.
“There’s a certain time limit that you’re supposed to wait before you actually can officially say that you are,” he added. “You’ve got to take all those things into factor and it gets really heightened when you’re one of the most famous people in the world because you don’t want to mislead anybody.”
Carey, 40, and Cannon, 29, tied the knot in a romantic beachside ceremony at the singer’s home in the Bahamas in 2008. They celebrated their second anniversary in May by renewing their vows at their Beverly Hills house.
